2 Steps to Trimming Your False Eyelashes | How to cut false eyelashes shorter

Posted by Jenny Yu on

Are your falsies too wide for your eyes? Did you know you can cut your falsies to fit?

Trimming your false eyelashes to match your eye size is simple and easy. In just 2 simple steps you can have perfectly sized lashes.

What you’ll need:
  • a clean, preferably unused, pair of eyelashes
  • a pair of scissors
  • tweezers

Step 1: Measure your eye using the clean, unused false eyelash

Example of laying your false eyelashes over your upper lash line

The quickest way to fit your lashes is to lay the lash over the upper lash line using your fingers and tweezers. Make sure to position the lash so the inner corner of the lash (shortest hairs) start where your existing lashes start.  You will be cutting the outside edge (end with the longest lashes), never cut the inner side of the lashes.

An example of a perfectly sized lash Position the tip of the tweezers where you need to trim and slightly pinch the lash band with the tweezers to make a very slight indentation as a reference mark for where to cut.  Make sure to measure each eye separately because it is not uncommon for one eye to be slightly wider than the other.

Step 2: Trim the lash where you made a mark with the tweezers

Trim your false eyelashes from the outer edgeTo trim the false lashes, cut from the outside edge.  Be conservative with your cuts and just cut little by little because you don't want to over-trim the lashes.  As you trim, be sure to test the fit of the lashes by laying them across the tops of your existing lashes.

Now that you have cut to fit your lashes, this should help make putting your lashes on easier.
